Delhi Cabinet approves massive expansion of 3 hospitals

In a move to increase facilities in hospitals in the national capital, the Delhi cabinet on March 6, 2019, approved three important health infrastructure expansion proposals, claiming to be the first Indian city to have such a large number of beds in the hospitals.

The cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, approved construction of a new 460-bed Mother and Child Hospital Block at Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital in Khichripur, addition and remodeling of Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra (SRHC) Hospital at Narela and expansion and remodeling of Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital at Shastri Park, Delhi.

The aim of the Rs. 144 crore project is to enhance mother and child care facilities in East Delhi to cater to a larger number of patients.

Presently, LBS Hospital has 105 sanctioned beds. After completion of the above project, the bed capacity of hospital will be enhanced to 565 beds.

The aim of the Rs 244 crore project is to convert the existing Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital at Narela, Delhi, into a hospital with modifications/ re-modelling as per the specific needs and proposed for developing an ultra-modern and comprehensive 773-bedded hospital.

The proposal includes converting the existing General hospital into a 773 bedded cancer block and hospital along with an independent block for Maternity and Trauma cases. There is also an increase in all required services due to increase in density (occupancy).

The aim of the Rs. 190 crore  project of Jag Parvesh Chandra Hospital is to enhance Medical Healthcare facilities in East Delhi and adjoining areas to cater to the large number of patients.

Presently Jag Parvesh Chandra Hospital has 339 sanctioned beds and after completion of above project, the capacity of the hospital will be enhanced to 560 beds.
