NEW DELHI : Dr. Sunil Gupta, Additional Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has been appointed as the new Medical Superintendent of the Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.
He will be replacing Dr Rajendra Sharma, who has been appointed as consultant of Physical Medicine in Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi.
Confirming the appointments, Dr Sharma told DTMT: “Yes, we have received the orders to join the new institutions of the Central Government. Dr Gupta will take charge from me on March 11, 2019.”
Holding degree of MBBS and MD, Dr Gupta was heading the Microbiology Department in NCDC, located in Civil Lines, Delhi. Dr Sharma worked in the All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Mumbai and Safdarjung Hospital-Delhi as a consultant.
Dr Gupta was also the head of the team that formulated the National Treatment Guidelines for Antimicrobial Use in Infectious Diseases and National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance. He has participated in many conferences on “Use and Misuse of Antibiotics”.
