Doctors seek faster recruitment process in Delhi-AIIMS

Resident doctors wishing to work in Delhi-AIIMS have expressed concern over the slow progress of the recruitment process for various posts in this premier institute. The doctors have compared the pace of recruitment at Delhi-AIIMS and PGI-Chandigarh and found that Chandigarh-PGI is faster than AIIMS in filling vacancies of doctors.

An assistant professor on contract basis associated with Delhi-AIIMS said that recently PGI-Chandigarh advertised vacancies of assistant professors in January, 2019, and the administration of the institute is ready with the interview process.

The doctor added that Delhi-AIIMS advertised the vacancies of assistant professors and lecturers in September-October 2018 but they are yet to start interviews for these posts.

The doctor lamented that this unnecessary delay can be prevented by authorities of Delhi-AIIMS. The candidates applying for the posts get confused whether they should apply somewhere else or they should wait for the interview to be able to serve in the institution.

“The aspiring candidates sometimes join private hospitals. This long wait entailed by the administration should end and the institute should follow PGI-Chandigarh functioning so that it starts and concludes the recruitment process in a short span of time,” said the doctor.

Another doctor told DTMT that both PGI-Chandigarh and Delhi-AIIMS are premier institutes, but delay in recruiting doctors by Delhi-AIIMS is surprising. He further added that RDA-Delhi-AIIMS will soon meet Health Minister JP Nadda and appraise him of their problems.
