Delhi: Over 1,300 polluting industrial units switch to PNG

Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), the anti-Pollution body of the Delhi government, has informed that it made 1,322 industrial units in the national capital switch to PNG fuel from other liquid fuel. This is out of a total 1,467 units identified for conversion.

The DPCC has also asked all non-bedded health care facilities to obtain authorization by April 25, 2019, under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules-2016 or face closure, it said in a statement.

Environmental compensation of Rs 5,00,000 each has been levied on South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department and District Level Monitoring Committee (South East) for illegal dumping of bio-medical waste in the Barapullah Nallah, the DPCC said.

The anti-pollution body has imposed Rs 50,000 environmental damage compensation each on municipal corporations for unauthorised dumping of garbage in 10 drains at 38 places.

The DPCC also said that South MCD, along with the Delhi Police and SDM (Delhi Cantt), took massive action of removal of encroachments in Mayapuri Industrial Area to stop unauthorized scrapping of vehicles.

"DPCC imposed Environmental Compensation Damages (EDC) of Rs one lakh each on 785 occupiers found during a survey by the Special Task Force," it said.
