Telangana: Junior docs seek health minister's intervention on bank guarantee

The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJDA) has urged state health minister Etela Rajender to direct the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) and other private colleges not to ask for bank guarantee from students at the time of admission to PG courses.

In a letter to the health minister the junior doctors have said that private medical colleges are seeking bank guarantee and harassing PG aspirants and their parents during the admission process. The authorities are threatening students that admissions will not be accepted without bank guarantee, which is against the High Court order delivered on June 29, 2017.

“We urge you to give necessary directions to KNRUHS authorities and private medical colleges' managements not to harass PG aspirants and parents during admission process so that no student is denied admission on bank guarantee basis,” states the TJDA letter.

The doctors have said that due to pressure of submitting bank guarantee, many PG students are losing their seats despite having merit. This situation has made the students and their parents helpless.

The doctors have also sought an appointment from state governor ESL Narasimhan to apprise him of their plight.
