1000-day initiative to address diabetes issues

BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI:
The Research Trust of DiabetesIndia on April 18, 2019, announced the launch of its nationwide 1000 day initiative to address issues associated with diabetes.

The campaign aims to reach out to over half a million families across India, especially in rural areas and smaller towns to educate them on diabetes, the importance of early diagnosis and disease management.

Patients will be advised on managing conditions like hypertension, dyslipidemia and obesity, especially in simple clinic settings. It will also celebrate the centenary of the first ever insulin injection on January 1, 2020.

During the programme, members of DiabetesIndia will reach over 50,000 primary care physicians and general physicians, and work with them to provide better patient care.

Dr. S.M. Sadikot, President, DiabetesIndia, said, “This initiative has two main goals. One, to impart basic knowledge on diabetes and its management among the masses, and two, to celebrate the centennial anniversary of insulin injection.”

He stated, “We hope that the effort undertaken by DiabetesIndia to address this challenge will help prevent the disease and create a healthy society.”
