Unpaid salary: Doctors to run OPDs outside Hindu Rao Hospital

NEW DELHI: Resident doctors in North Delhi MCD run Hindu Rao Hospital will set up outpatient departments (OPDs) outside the hospital premises from Monday to “help patients who will face inconvenience” because of the complete strike in the hospital by the doctors from that day.
RDA president, Dr Rahul Chaudhary, told DTMT, “All the needy patients will be treated in the camp to be organised outside the Hindu Rao Hospital.”
He said, “Besides consultation for routine ailments, the resident doctors will also distribute medicines and refer critical cases for admission to the other government hospitals.”
“Our fight is with the administration of the North MCD. We don’t want patients to suffer because of the total strike,” said Dr Choudhary.
Doctors announced that parallel OPDs would run until the strike ends.
As many as 350 junior doctors of the hospital will remain on complete strike from Monday. “We had made representations to the Medical Superintendent, Additional Commissioner North MCD and other health authorities regarding our demands. However, the authorities paid no heed to our request and eventually we had to resort to strike,” said General Secretary of RDA, Dr Sanjeev Choudhary.
The hospital authorities said there will be no problem due to the strike and added that proper arrangements will be made in advance to provide services to the patients.
