Hindu Rao Hospital: Salary credited, doctors end stir

NEW DELHI: Striking resident doctors employed with the North Delhi MCD-run Hindu Rao Hospital on May 21, 2019, agreed to end their strike after their salary up to the month of March, 2019, was credited in their accounts.
The announcement was made after a fresh round of negotiations between the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Suman Mehandiratta, and representatives of striking doctors.
Dr. Mehandiratta said, “The demand of arrears will be put up to the competent authority for release as soon as possible.”
“The 16-point charter of demands will be discussed and amicably resolved in consultation with members of RDA and Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (Health) North MCD,” she said.
The MS stated, “Punitive action will not be taken against the residents. However, issue of salary during strike period will be forwarded to the competent authority for favourable consideration.”
The doctors on strike demanded their pending salaries for last three months, immediate implementation of 7th pay commission report and regular interview for permanent junior and senior resident doctors in the hospitals.
During the strike for the past six days, the resident doctors paralyzed service delivery at the outpatient departments (OPDs) and wards and the strike also affected surgeries.
Earlier, the civic agency on May 20, 2019, evening said that they have received an amount of Rs. 206.5 crore from the Delhi government for the first quarter Basic Tax Allocation for the current financial year.
