'Discrepancies' in appointment: Telangana docs write to secretary, director

The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJDA) has urged the director, Directorate of Public Health, Telangana, to intervene in recruitment process of doctors which they suspect was not transparent.

The advertisement of the recruitment was released in December 2017 for filling 521 posts of doctors. The selection was done in two phases. In the first phase, 457 posts were filled and in the second phase 64 posts were filled.

“We strongly suspect there were irregularities in both first and second phases of filling the vacancies. Some contract doctor bribed DMHO, Deputy DMHO and higher officials of DH to get false certificates of services and subsequently they got contract weitghage and secured jobs,” reads a TJDA letter to the director.

The letter states, “During the second phase of recruitment, list of selected candidates was also not displayed on the website concerned. Posting orders were also sent to personal mails of selected candidates which were signed by Director of Health.”

“We found out there was mismatch between merit list and the selected candidates and there is a strong suspicion that reservation rules were also not followed during selection process. We strongly suspect there were irregularities in both first and second phases of filling the vacancies. Kindly look into the matter,” doctors demanded.

TJDA has also sent the same letter separately to the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Telangana.
