Doctors, nurses at Delhi's RML Hospital plant saplings

NEW DELHI : Doctors and nurses at the RML Hospital, New Delhi, took time off from their busy schedules to participate in a plantation drive at the hospital, and talk about the ‘health’ of the planet.
Saplings were planted by Director and Medical Superintendent Dr. V.K. Tiwari with doctors, administrators and other staff members in the Central Park of the hospital.
The plantation drive event was also attended by the Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Meenakshi, Dean PGIMER Head Department of Urology Dr. Rajeev Sood, Head of Accident and Emergency Department Dr. Nutan Mehta, and Assistant Professor in Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Sanjeet Panesar.
As they participated in the drive, the doctors emphasized that it was important for each of the planet earth’s citizens to do their own bit in protecting the environment and saving our collective future.
RML Hospital plans to take the initiative to a bigger scale and invite the local community, schools, colleges and active RWA’s to associate with them in the near future.
Dr V K Tiwari said: “This is an important step taken by RML Hospital. Such initiatives not only help in creating the ambiance for the patients but are also a social effort on our part to ensure that the environment is taken care of.”
Dr Sanjeet Panesar said that we should address the sustainable development goals which are directly or indirectly related with the environment, in a balanced manner.
The other topics covered in the presentation were the sources of air pollution, vulnerable groups, understanding the air quality index, the short-term and long- term health effects of air pollution, agencies involved in monitoring and control of air pollution and the role of the government at policy level and individual at personal level to reduce air pollution.
