A 60-year-old gynecologist in Gujarat jumped to death from the fourth floor of a commercial complex in Bodakdev area of Ahmedabad on June 10, 2019.

Dr Meeta Mankad, the deceased, was working in a private cancer hospital on SG road. Her husband, Hemant Mankad, is a physician in a private hospital in the city.

She was also a teacher for over thirty years at MP Shah Cancer Hospital and Research Institute. Forensic Experts said that initially it seems to be a case of suicide.

Her colleagues in the hospital said that Dr Mankad was battling with depression due to some family reasons for months which could be the cause of her death. It seems that she was planning to jump from the building for some days as her activities in the complex were noted by the sanitation worker.

Police has not found any suicide note or any other proof which could point to suicide or murder. This is the second time within month that a doctor has taken her life. On May 22, 2019, Dr Payal Tadvi had committed suicide in BYL Nair hospital due to alleged harassment by her three senior doctors.
