Doctors working in different government hospitals of Telangana held massive rallies condemning the brutal attacks against them. The state owned super specialty hospital Nizam’s Institute Of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad became the hotbed of these protest programs.

Resident doctors of NIMS hospital took out a huge rally protesting the attacks against them by the attendants of patients and others. The protest by these doctors was also an expression of the solidarity with Kolkata doctors, who became the victims of similar attacks.

The doctors raised slogans against the attacks. The doctors asked the state government how they would treat the patients when attacks were being carried out against them. They said that such attacks were the result of lack of adequate security in the government hospitals. They alleged that the state government did not take any action despite making several pleas earlier and added that the promises made by the state government had not been fulfilled so far.

They demanded that the state government must provide adequate security to them at NIMS, Gandhi, Osmania and Nilofer Government Hospitals of the state with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the resident doctors of the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh state also held rallies protesting the attacks against them.

Doctors from Khammam district hospital also organised similar protest program condemning the attitude of the higher ups of the department for suspending one Medical Officer and three nurses.  They demanded the state government to immediately withdraw the suspension of the staff members and restore their services. They also sat on dharna and stated that the suspension of the doctors and nurses was illegal.

Speaking on the occasion, the state representative of Telangana Government doctors association Srinivasa Rao said that it was not good to take action against the doctor and the paramedical staff based on the news items published in a section of the media without holding any inquiry. He asked the state government to withdraw the suspension of their staff immediately as the total number of patients has increased in the hospital. The superintendent of the hospital Dr. Ram Naik and RMO held discussions with the agitating doctors and promised to take their demands to the notice of the district collector.
