Delhi's Swami Dayanand Hospital Resident Docs to strike on June 17

The resident doctors of Swami Daya Nand Hospital (SDNH) in Shahdara, Delhi, have announced that they will strike work on June 17, 2019, in support of West Bengal doctors who have been on strike for the last six days due to brutal assault on their colleagues in NRS Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. SDNH is run by the Municipal Corporation.

The RDA-SDNH, in a letter to the hospital Medical Superintendent, has stated that the junior doctors were attacked and beaten up in Kolkata. In response to this, the administration has not only failed to provide a resolution but has resorted to threaten the doctors with violence, expulsion and prosecution, along with threat to their careers, says the letter.

The doctors said that the administration has failed to provide adequate security protection and justice to the resident doctors. The dire situation has forced many a faculty to resign in the state.

“The RDA-SDNH strongly condemns the inaction in words and spirit, and as token of the support and solidarity to our colleagues in West Bengal, the RDA-SDNH, in conjunction with other RDAs and the IMA, has deemed necessary to call a token strike on June 17, 2019,” reads the RDA letter issued by President Praveen Bharti.
