An assault on a junior doctor on June 17, 2019, in the emergency wing of trauma center of Delhi-AIIMS, has further angered the striking doctors across the nation.

AIIMS-RDA has stated that the doctor was attacked by relatives of a patient early in the morning.

The AIIMS doctors said that the issue related to assault on the doctor in the trauma centre was managed with the administration but they are worried how they will serve in an unsafe working environment.

The doctors said that they are withdrawing elective services from 12 noon on June 17, 2019, till 6 am on June18, 2019. The emergency will continue to run.

They also took out a silent protest march in the Institute.

The doctors have demanded a central act on violence against doctors which must include strict action against culprits.

The doctors have also demanded from the West Bengal government that it should fulfil the demands of doctors.
