The ongoing issue of violence against doctors has reached the Supreme Court. The Apex Court has will be hearing a petition on doctors’ safety in health facilities across India on June 18, 2019.

A bench comprising Justices Deepak Gupta and Surya Kant has agreed to hear the matter on June 18, 2019. The petition was filed on June 14, 2019, by family of a patient.

The petition has also urged the court to direct hospitals to have government-appointed personnel at all hospitals to ensure doctors' safety and security.
