NEW DELHI : Reacting to yet another incident of assault, junior doctors in Maharishi Valmiki Hospital, Delhi, went on flash strike after a violent mob created ruckus in the hospital over alleged rape of a minor girl.

Doctors demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and intervention to step up the safety and security for resident doctors.

A senior resident of the hospital informed DTMT that an angry crowd attacked the medical staff at the hospital and ransacked the furniture and other properties.

The girl was taken to the hospital for medical treatment after the child was allegedly raped.

He said that the medical emergency department shuts down post 4 PM. The hospital referred the case to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, which was far away. The referral angered the attendants of the girl, who then ransacked the ward where the victim girl was admitted.

Dr Ankit Om, chairman of the United Resident Doctors Association, told DTMT that an institutional FIR was lodged at Bawana Police Station against the culprits but no arrest has been made so far.
