Ashok Agarwal submits ten healthcare demands to Kejriwal

NEW DELHI : Social jurist Ashok Agarwal has submitted a 10-point memorandum of demands on healthcare to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The demands include enactment of Delhi Right to Public Health, legislation to have a scheme better than Ayushman Bharat policy, Abolishing private wards in all Delhi Government run hospitals including 5-6 autonomous hospitals and making all beds as free beds, end to discrimination between Delhi residents and non Delhi resident patients in matter of providing treatment in Delhi government hospitals and compliance with Delhi High Court order for increasing ICU beds in Delhi government hospitals.
Mr Agarwal has pointed out that at least 10 to 15 patients die every day in Delhi for want of ICU beds.
Ashok Agarwal is known for his untiring efforts to make good health facilities accessible to the poor. His PILs filed through ‘Social Jurist’ – an NGO run by him – have played a significant role in improving basic amenities in state-run hospitals.
Mr Agarwal took up the fight for free medical treatment for poor patients in private hospitals built on the land given by the government at subsidised rate.
