Doctors support Jhajjar's protesting MBBS students

NEW DELHI:
Even as medical students in Jhajjar, Haryana, have sought permission for committing mass suicide due to their future being at stake, doctors are standing in solidarity with them and are requesting them to review their decision!!

Showing solidarity with protesting MBBS students in Haryana, doctors affiliated with the Progressive Medicos and Scientists Forum (PMSF) have demanded a 'sensible' solution of their problems.

MBBS students of World Medical College, Jajjhar, Haryana, had written to President Ram Nath Kovind seeking permission for mercy killing/Euthanasia of 148 MBBS students whose future was destroyed due to ignorance of medical college administration, bureaucracy and government.

“Along with showing solidarity we also requested protesting students to avoid self harm and break the hunger strike,” said Dr Harjit Singh Bhatti, National Convener of PMSF.

“We live in an inhuman world where your suffering won’t affect governments. So, instead of doing hunger strike or suicidal attempts, fight for your rights with full strength and dedication,” Dr Bhatti told MBBS students.

“We demand immediate attention of government to their demands,” said Dr Bhatti.

The protesting students are on the 10th day of their relay hunger strike and their health is deteriorating every day. They point out that their medical college does not have faculty, basic infrastructure, lab facilities or hospital and the MCI has cancelled the permission to take new admissions.

The students blamed that they got stuck in this useless medical college and end up having useless degree without any learning or training. They are on hunger strike demanding transfer to another medical college which has all the facilities to provide quality medical education.
