Docs petrified as mob thrashes security guards in Safdarjung hospital

Rohit Shishodia
Resident doctors at Delhi’s Safarjung hospital expressed shock when a mob of 40 people recently barged into the emergency and assaulted the security guards who were preventing the mob from entering.

“Only one attendant is allowed with a patient in the emergency ward but around five to six attendants were trying to enter with the patient. This was opposed by the security guards deputed at that time. When those six attendants were stopped, more people come and numbers increased to 40. They forcefully entered the emergency and assaulted the on duty security guards,” said Dr Prakash Thakur, President, RDA, Safdarjung Hospital.

Dr Thakur further said that this has happened due to decreased security in the hospital. “Around 100 security guards and 18 marshals have been removed from the emergency ward. This is the third incident of assault on security personnel in the last 15 days,” he added.
