The Government's efforts to sensitize people about preventive measures for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, are being ignored by people at large in public places and hospitals.

People were seen ignoring doctors' advice on coronavirus at the two dedicated hospitals -- RML and Safdarjung hospitals.

People are least informed or they deliberately ignore the advice for protection from the virus that has infected 147 and killed three Indians. The dedicated isolation ward for coronavirus affected patients is a restricted area at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital. The ward is so placed that no common man can visit the ward but basics of cleanness in the hospital and lack of information about the virus was evident among people coming to the hospital.

An attendant with a patient from Bihar who was not wearing mask said that he was aware of coronavirus but said that he did not take any precautions as it cannot spread beyond a distance of more than two meters.

Another attendant said that it cannot spread beyond a distance of more than three meters.

An individual said that he has left eating chicken as this virus spreads with the consumption of chicken.

There were many more who lacked knowledge about the virus. Many people in the hospital were wearing masks as a precaution and many were roaming about without masks.

The OPD and the medicine counter were packed with hundreds of people exposing themselves to one another which indicates that spreading of the virus is likely as it spreads through human transmission.

The scenes at the hospital with so much crowd expose the hospital's lack of preparedness to fight the virus in a gathering of people.

People were seen spitting, coughing and sneezing at different spots in the hospital unaware of the fact that the virus can spread and can infect many.

The central government, however, has directed officials to sanitize the buildings. This was lacking in the hospital.

The debris in the under construction spots was lying inside the hospital and also water was stagnating on the ground floor near OPD, inviting diseases.

The scene was not much different in the RML hospital, where people are roaming about in front of coronavirus isolation ward.

They were spitting and coughing in the open. They were keenly observing the people standing in the queue for corona virus screening.

There is a park in front of the screening center where large number of people were sitting and exposing themselves to each other.
