The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (Forda)-India has issued a public health advisory on coronavirus to avoid public gatherings and crowded places.

The doctors’ body has appealed to people to follow cough etiquette and cover the mouth while coughing or sneezing, along with proper disposal of the used mask. “It is sufficient to use a triple layer surgical mask to avoid contracting the virus or to stop spreading the virus. N95 mask is recommended for intensive care settings only. Kindly use mask whenever you go out,” said Forda-India.

“Follow personal hygiene measures, wash hands regularly with soap and water and avoid touching nose, mouth or eyes as much as possible. Use quality sanitizers with no less than sixty per cent alcohol content and kindly check the label while purchasing sanitizers,” added Forda-India.

“Stay at home and avoid public places until and unless it is absolutely necessary. For minor ailments and other chronic diseases, visit nearby primary health care or health clinic for treatment rather than visiting secondary or tertiary level healthcare intuitions, that are already overcrowded with patients with unknown coronavirus status,” said Forda-India.
