The Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on September 9, 2021 informed that 68% of the total coronavirus infections in India last week were from Kerala, and out of the 43,263 coronavirus cases recorded in the last 24 hours, over 32,000 infections are from Kerala.

“The overall declining trend is a little less than 50 per cent which was there in the first wave. We are still witnessing the 2nd surge; it’s not over,” Bhushan said at a press briefing.

Earlier on the aforementioned day, a total of 43,263 new coronavirus infections and 338 fatalities were recorded across the country in the past 24 hours, the India Health Ministry informed.

It further added that of these, Kerala reported 30,196 infections and 181 fatalities.
