Taking serious note of tobacco consumption by employees of AIIMS, the security wing of Delhi-AIIMS has warned of strict departmental action against employees who are found smoking and chewing tobacco in the country’s premier medical institute.
A recent circular issued by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Delhi-AIIMS, points out that a circular warning against smoking was issued in February-2019, but despite warnings, staff members are often found smoking and chewing tobacco in AIIMS premises.
“It is once again brought to the notice of all concerned that smoking and spitting tobacco is prohibited in AIIMS premises. If any staff member is found smoking and spitting tobacco in the AIIMS premises, strict departmental action shall be initiated against him,” reads the circular.
The CSO has directed all security assignment managers to properly sensitize the security persons to refrain from the use of tobacco products. They should stop visitors and patients from doing so and report about the AIIMS employees found in such activity, to their area officers.
“They should further refer the case to the concerned department for necessary administrative action,” added the CSO.
