Benazepril
Benazepril is an ACE inhibitor with an esterified ethomycarbonyl moiety. It is a highly effective non-sulfhydryl ACE-inhibitor. It is also beneficial in hypertensive patients with concomitant diabetes, congestive heart failure, hyperuricemia, hyperlipidemia or asthma.Treatment of hypertension.
10-40mg once daily.
Hypersensitivity to ACE inhibitors, history of angioedema.
Renal disease, renal artery stenosis, hyperkalaemia, anaesthesia, prior treatment with a diuretic, concomitant treatment with potassium sparing diuretics or potassium supplements. Pregnancy: Contraindicated. Lactation: Should be recommended only when the potential benefits to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the infant.
Headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough, somnolence, nausea and postural dizziness.
Patients on diuretics may experience excessive BP reduction, K-sparing diuretics and K-supplements can increase the risk of hyperkalemia when used with benazepril.
