Lansoprazole with Clarithromycin and Tinidazole
This combination medication consists of three active ingredients - Lansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor; Clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic; and Tinidazole, an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. Together, they form a potent therapeutic option for certain gastrointestinal infections.-Helicobacter pylori eradication in peptic ulcer disease. -Treatment of gastritis and duodenitis associated with H. pylori infection. -Management of gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria and protozoa.
-The recommended adult dose is determined by the specific condition being treated. -Typical regimen: Lansoprazole (30 mg) + Clarithromycin (500 mg) + Tinidazole (500 mg) twice daily for 7 to 14 days.
-Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication. -Concomitant use with certain medications, like cisapride or astemizole.
-Caution in patients with a history of allergic reactions to macrolide antibiotics or nitroimidazole derivatives. -Monitor for potential interactions with other medications, especially those metabolized by CYP3A4. -Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, headache, and metallic taste. Rare but serious adverse effects may include severe skin reactions, neuropathy, or Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
-Increased risk of QT prolongation with concomitant use of clarithromycin and other QT-prolonging medications. -Potential interactions with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4, such as warfarin and certain benzodiazepines.
