Sulpiride

It is a benzomide derivative. It is a selective dopamine D2 antagonist with antipsychotic and antidepressant activity.

Indications

Schizophrenia, depression, Tourette's disorder, alcoholic addition, Duodenal ulcer, Inadequate lactation.


Dosage

Adult : Schizophrenia:800 to 3200mg/day. Depression: 200 to 1000mg per day. Tourette's disorder : 200 to 1000mg per day. Alcoholic addiction: 100mg per day. Duodenal ulcer: 100 to 300mg per day. Inadequate lactation:100 to 200mg per day.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity to sulpiride.


Special Precautions

Dose reductions are needed in patient with renal impairment.


Side Effects

Palpitation, breast engorgement, galactorrhea, amenorrhoea, hepatotoxicity.
