it is phosphodiaterase inhibitor which relaxes smooth muscle and dilates the vessels.

Indications

vascular spasm associated with acute myocardial infarction (coronary occlusion), angina pectoris, peripheral and pulmonary embolism, peripheral vascular disease in which there is a vasospastic element, or certain cerebral angiospastic states; and visceral spasm, as in ureteral, biliary, or gastrointestinal colic, erectile dysfunction


Dosage

inj, 1 to 4 ml parental with 2-3 doses, for erectile dysfunction dose 2.5mg-60 mg


Contra-Indications

Complete AV block, sickle-cell anaemia, multiple myeloma or leukaemia, preexisting penile fibrosis, anatomical deformation of penis, penile implants.

Side Effects

Ventricular tachycardia, constipation, somnolence, vertigo, hepatic dysfunction, anorexia, skin rash, malaise,vertigo, headache, intensive flushing of the face, perspiration, increase in the depth of respiration, a slight rise in blood pressure, and excessive sedation.
