Brahmi

Bacopa monnieri is a herb commonly known as Bramhi in India. Brahmi is a potent sedative drug and exhibits analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, anti-convulsant, anxiolytic, anti-cancer, antioxidant, antiulcer, and antimicrobial properties. It is available in powder form as well as in syrup form.

Indications

Anxiety or stress, depression, memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, seizures, asthma, hair fall, pain, inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome ( IBD), and cancer.


Dosage

The standard dose for Bramhi is 300-500 mg per day.


Contra-Indications

It is contraindicated in patients with thyroid problems, stomach ulcers, and pulmonary disorders.


Special Precautions

During pregnancy and lactation, Brahmi should be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional.


Side Effects

Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, dizziness.


Drug Interactions

It is not recommended to take Brahmi with other sedative drugs.
