Fusidic Acid

Fusidic Acid

It is a steroidal antibiotic. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.

Indications

Skin infections caused by Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacterium minutissimum, propionobacterium acnes and other organism sensitive to Fusidic acid.


Dosage

Apply to the affected area 2-3 times a day, generally for a period of 7 days.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic failure.


Special Precautions

Hepatic disease. Paediatrics: Use with caution. Pregnancy: Use with caution. Lactation: Should not be used.


Side Effects

Extremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reactions.
