NICOTINE TRANSDERMAL



Indications

Treatment of nicotine dependence, as an aid to smoking cessation.


Dosage

Start with 30 sq.cm. or 20 sq.cm. depending on the number of cigarettes smoked per day (for those smoking over 20 cigarette/day, it is recommended to start with 30 sq.cm. o.d.). Treatment period: 3-4 weeks. Do not exceed treatment period of 3mnths and doses above 30 sq.cm.


Contra-Indications

Occasional smokers, children, pregnancy and lactation, acute MI and unstable angina, cardiac arrhythmias, recent cerebrovascular accident, active peptic ulcer and hypersensitivity reaction.


Special Precautions

Hypertension, stable angina, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, peptic ulcer, renal or hepatic impairment, skin diseases.


Side Effects

Erythema or pruritus at application site, headache, sleeplessness, myalgia, flu-like syndrome, nausea, dizziness, dyspepsia, dry mouth, diarrhoea, sweating, angioneurotic edema, urticaria and dyspnea.
