Protest against Right to Health bill: Doctors fume as police lathi-charge on colleagues in Jaipur

The use of force by resorting to lathi-charge by police against doctors protesting against the proposed Right to Health Bill in Rajasthan drew criticism from various sections across the country.

Different organisations have come in support of the protesting doctors. It may be noted that police used force to disperse doctors in Jaipur when they were heading towards the state Assembly.

Doctors have expressed reservations about certain provisions in the Bill.

Taking the police action seriously, the doctors have called for the state's services to be completely shut down.

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (Forda)-India stated in response to the police lathi-charge on the doctors that democracy is being ripped apart in a gruesome manner.

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has stated that it fully supports the doctors fighting for their rights in Rajasthan.

Doctors' groups have demanded that the officers who ordered the brutal attack be punished.

This act of police was condemned by resident doctors' associations. The doctors pointed out that the bill lacks clarity and wants to delimit the power of doctors.
