A new chapter began for Delhi’s dental community on Tuesday as Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh inaugurated the state-of-the-art office of the Delhi Dental Council (DDC) along with the country’s first Central Tissue Bank at a dental institution, housed at the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS).

For dentists in the capital, the new office promises to be a game changer. Known for overseeing dentist registrations and ethical practice, the DDC has now gone fully digital. Online registration, renewal, and related services will replace long queues and paperwork, making the system more transparent, efficient, and accessible.

One of the biggest highlights is the cashless “V-Office” system, which makes DDC the only state dental council in India to offer such a facility. Every service is now bound by a clear timeline, meaning smoother processes and faster results for practitioners.

If the DDC’s office is a boost for dentists, the Central Tissue Bank is nothing short of a breakthrough for patients. Set up in the Department of Periodontology on the sixth floor of MAIDS, the facility will make tissue and bone grafts available directly at the institute. Until now, patients had to buy such material from the market—a process often expensive and time-consuming.

“This is the first of its kind in any dental institution in India,” said Dr. Gyanendra Kumar, Registrar of the Delhi Dental Council. “It will make advanced treatments easier and more affordable, while significantly improving patient care.”

With the launch of these two landmark facilities, MAIDS has positioned itself at the cutting edge of innovation in dental healthcare—offering not just convenience for dentists but also life-changing accessibility for patients.
