Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has taken a major step towards expanding higher education opportunities for Delhi students by introducing 24 new courses and launching its admission process for the academic session 2026–27. With a strong focus on emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Clinical Psychology, the university aims to prepare students for the careers of tomorrow—without forcing them to look beyond the city.

The admission process officially began with the release of three separate admission brochures for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes at a function held at the India International Centre (IIC). The brochures were jointly released by Delhi’s Minister of Education, Shri Ashish Sood, and the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma. Online applications will open from February 2.

Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Ashish Sood said the launch of the admission brochure reflects trust, commitment and the government’s resolve to build a strong future for Delhi’s youth. Recalling his own student days, he said there was a time when pursuing quality higher education often meant leaving Delhi. High capitation fees placed heavy pressure on middle-class families and created the belief that good opportunities existed only outside the city. That mindset, he said, has changed significantly.

The Minister described IP University as a strong example of public education serving the new generation. With more than 130 affiliated institutions, over 43,000 seats and more than 230 academic programmes, the university today offers education across diverse fields including artificial intelligence, robotics, data science, law, medicine, design and mass communication.

This year’s new courses clearly reflect the changing needs of industry and society. Programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Data Science aim to equip students with advanced technological skills, while the introduction of Clinical Psychology responds to the growing demand for trained mental health professionals. Alongside these, new courses in management, physiotherapy, industrial chemistry, teacher education and inclusive education further broaden academic choices for students.

The university has also strengthened its focus on inclusive and professional education by introducing integrated teacher education programmes designed to support students with special needs. Weekend programmes have been expanded to help working professionals upgrade their qualifications without disrupting their careers.

Further expanding its reach, nine new institutes have been affiliated to IP University this year. Academic activity has already begun at the Narela campus with three programmes currently running, and several more courses are in the pipeline for the new campus.

To make the admission process simpler, the university has continued with a one-time application fee of ₹2,500, which covers both registration and participation in counselling. Admissions will be conducted through university-level CETs as well as national examinations such as JEE Main, NEET, CAT, CMAT, CLAT and NIMCET. Vacant seats in several programmes, including B.Tech courses, will also be filled using CUET scores.
