AI to Transform Prenatal Ultrasound Care: Aarthi Scans, Origin Medical Join Hands to Improve Pregnancy Diagnostics
In a major step towards improving maternal and fetal healthcare, Aarthi Scans & Labs and Origin Medical Research Lab India Private Limited, the research and development arm of Origin Medical, have strengthened their collaboration to make prenatal ultrasound examinations more accurate, consistent, and accessible through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The two organisations have been working together for the past five years to develop and validate AI-powered solutions that support maternal-fetal imaging in busy clinical settings. Their shared goal is to help expectant mothers receive high-quality prenatal scans while assisting doctors in making timely and accurate clinical decisions.
The collaboration focuses on several key aspects of prenatal ultrasound, including automated image capture, detection of important anatomical landmarks, real-time image quality assessment, and automated fetal measurements. These AI-driven tools are designed to improve workflow efficiency, minimise differences between operators, and ensure more standardised prenatal care across healthcare facilities.

However, maintaining consistent imaging quality across high-volume healthcare centres remains a challenge.

According to the organisations, multiple studies have demonstrated that the AI systems perform strongly in identifying and assessing complete fetal anatomy, including critical structures such as the fetal central nervous system.
The AI platform developed through this partnership also provides automated image capture with instant feedback, helping sonographers complete anatomical surveys more efficiently while reducing scan time and improving the overall patient experience. It further offers real-time image quality and completeness checks to ensure that all essential anatomical views are captured according to international clinical guidelines. Automated fetal measurement tools also help improve consistency in fetal biometry while reducing variation between different operators and healthcare centres.
