Marking World Hearing Day, Aster RV Hospital organised a Free Hearing and Vertigo Screening Camp to raise awareness about hearing and balance disorders and promote early diagnosis and treatment.

The initiative saw participation from more than 100 people and focused on encouraging timely detection of hearing impairment and balance-related conditions. As part of the programme, the hospital also offered special discounts on hearing aids to help patients who require assistive devices.

The camp provided a range of diagnostic and consultation services, including audiometry tests, OAE (otoacoustic emissions) screenings, ENT consultations, and guidance on vestibular rehabilitation for individuals experiencing vertigo and balance problems.

The screening was conducted by a team of specialists, including Dr Vinayak Kurle, Consultant – ENT; Dr Vijaya Bhaskar S M, Senior Consultant – ENT; and Dr Palak Dengla, Chief Physiotherapist. Participants received personalised assessments along with counselling on treatment options and further medical care where necessary.

Doctors at the hospital noted that hearing loss and vestibular disorders often remain undetected in their early stages, which can significantly affect communication, mobility and overall quality of life if left untreated.

Experts said awareness initiatives such as screening camps play an important role in encouraging people to undergo preventive check-ups and seek medical attention early. They added that timely diagnosis, structured rehabilitation and appropriate treatment can help prevent long-term complications and improve patients’ daily functioning.

Through such community outreach programmes, Aster RV Hospital said it aims to improve access to specialised ENT care and strengthen public awareness about hearing and balance health.
