Bansuri Swaraj Visits Health Camp at Safdarjung, Stresses Women’s Wellness and Nari Shakti

Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj on Saturday visited the ongoing health camp at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital under the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan,’ where she engaged with patients, reviewed services, and encouraged initiatives focused on women’s health and empowerment.

Now in its fourth day, the camp is dedicated to preventive healthcare and awareness activities for women and adolescent girls. Ms. Swaraj interacted with patients and hospital staff, listening to their experiences and health concerns. She also distributed sanitary napkins to young girls and women, highlighting the importance of menstrual hygiene in ensuring dignity and overall well-being.

Emphasizing nutrition, the MP urged the adoption of millets as a healthy dietary choice and reiterated the critical connection between women’s health and national strength. “Nari Shakti begins with Nari Health,” she said, underscoring the role of empowered women in building a strong India.

She also commended the camp’s daily activities, including yoga sessions, non-communicable disease screenings, mental health counseling, and tuberculosis awareness drives. “This is a holistic approach to healthcare that should serve as a model for community-based delivery,” she observed.

The event was attended by senior medical leaders including Director Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Medical Superintendent Dr. Charu Bamba, Principal Geetika Khanna, AMS Dr. R.P. Arora, Dr. Krishan Kumar, and Dr. Bindu Bajaj, HoD of Gynecology, who were praised for their team’s dedicated efforts.

Ms. Swaraj called upon women to stay informed and proactive about their health. “Empowered women form the backbone of a strong and developed nation,” she added.
