India’s MedTech ambitions just got a major boost. The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Vizag has opened the doors to its newest jewel—the World Trade Center (WTC) Tower, a sprawling 1 lakh sq. ft. innovation hub designed to supercharge the country’s healthcare startup ecosystem.

This is not just another office tower. With rapid prototyping labs, testing facilities, co-working spaces, and even activity zones, the WTC Tower has been purpose-built to help medical technology innovators take ideas from drawing board to deployment—all under one roof. Think of it as the launchpad where surgical needles meet surgical robotics and AI-powered wearables, creating a future of healthcare that’s designed in India, for the world.

At the heart of this expansion is Medivalley Incubation, AMTZ’s flagship innovation hub, which already supports 150 startups and is now gearing up to double that number to 300 by FY 2026. The facility isn’t just about physical space—it’s about building a thriving ecosystem. With funding pathways through DBT-BIRAC, NITI Aayog, DPIIT, ICMR, and the Department of Pharmaceuticals, along with global tie-ups with WHO, the World Health Innovation Forum, and TiE, Medivalley is turning Vizag into a global hotspot for MedTech entrepreneurship.

“This expansion is not just about creating more space—it’s about building capacity for India’s next generation of MedTech leaders,” said Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Executive Chairman of AIC-AMTZ Medivalley and CEO of AMTZ. “We want every idea, no matter how small, to have the right ecosystem to scale into a product that impacts lives worldwide.”

The numbers back him up. In just five years, Medivalley has incubated over 150 startups, enabled 40+ research outcomes, and supported patents and technology transfers. It has also mobilized ₹60 crore in grants, including a recent ₹7 crore sanction from the Department of Pharmaceuticals.

The leadership team, headed by Dr. Dilip Kumar Chekuri, CEO of Medivalley and winner of the prestigious AAMI John D. Hughes Iconoclast Award (USA), has forged partnerships with over 150 corporates and 50 academic institutions. Recognition has followed: from being named NITI Aayog’s Best MedTech Incubator in India to winning CII’s MedTech Quality Champion (Platinum) and Best Ecosystem Enabler at AIM Congress, Dubai.

For founders, the impact is tangible. “At Medivalley, we didn’t just get incubation space—we got access to mentors, prototyping labs, and investors, all under one roof,” said Dr. Nidun Jacob of Griva Healthcare Pvt.
