Cupid Limited Enters Nitrile Female Condom Market, Launches New Global Branding Strategy
Cupid Limited has announced the launch of a development programme for nitrile (NBR) female condoms, marking its entry into a global market segment that has long been dominated by a single supplier. The company said the move is aimed at diversifying supply in the premium latex-free category while strengthening its global footprint in sexual health products.
The global female condom market, currently valued at around USD 770 million, is expected to exceed USD 1.2 billion by 2030. However, the nitrile female condom segment has historically relied on a single manufacturer producing the FC2 Female Condom. With growing demand from international procurement agencies for alternative suppliers, Cupid’s entry is expected to address supply limitations and improve access to latex-free protection for women worldwide.
To support this expansion, the company has developed a new manufacturing facility designed with dual-polymer dipping technology, allowing the simultaneous production of natural rubber latex and nitrile condoms on separate lines. According to the company, this makes it the only manufacturer in India with integrated dual-polymer capability, ensuring both efficiency and strict quality control without cross-contamination. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to have an annual capacity of approximately 1.25 billion male condoms and 125 million female condoms.
Cupid has also initiated a structured research and development programme for its nitrile female condom, supported by international technical expertise in formulation, dipping technology and product design. The development process will follow ISO 25841:2017 standards. The company already has a strong presence in the segment, with its latex-based female condoms prequalified by the World Health Organization and United Nations Population Fund, and supplied to more than 50 countries.
Company officials said the decision to enter the nitrile segment is driven by the need for supply diversification, the premium positioning of latex-free products, and the high technical and regulatory barriers that limit new entrants. Chief Operating Officer Durgesh Garg noted that the company is well-positioned to offer a credible and quality-assured alternative to global buyers seeking additional suppliers.
In addition to its product expansion, Cupid Limited has announced a new branding strategy centred on the theme “Made in India with Japanese Quality.” The initiative reflects a collaboration with one of Asia’s oldest condom manufacturers and aims to combine India’s manufacturing strengths with globally recognised standards of precision and reliability. The company said the new positioning is intended to build greater trust among domestic consumers as well as global OEM partners.
With this dual focus on innovation and branding, Cupid Limited aims to strengthen its position as a trusted global manufacturer while also highlighting India’s growing role as a reliable hub for healthcare and personal wellness products.
