In a major step forward for public healthcare, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) has unveiled an advanced Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging facility, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Delhi Government healthcare system. The move is being seen as a significant boost to dental diagnostics and patient care in the capital.

The facility was formally inaugurated by Delhi’s Health Minister, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, who attended as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also graced by prominent dignitaries including Dr. Munisha Agarwal, Dean, MAMC; Dr. Puja Sakuja, MD, GB Pant Hospita, and Dr. Meenakshi Thakar, reflecting the importance of the milestone for the medical and academic community.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Singh described the launch as a landmark achievement for both MAIDS and the Delhi Government. He emphasized that being the first such facility in the public healthcare sector, it sets a new benchmark and highlights the government’s commitment to innovation and excellence. He also expressed confidence that MAIDS will continue to lead by example for institutions across the country.

The newly launched CBCT facility represents a major leap in dental diagnostics, offering high-resolution imaging while ensuring reduced radiation exposure for patients. Its integration with advanced CAD-CAM technology allows for a smooth and fully digital workflow, significantly improving precision and efficiency in treatment planning and delivery. This combination is expected to enhance diagnostic accuracy and lead to better clinical outcomes across a wide range of dental procedures.

Highlighting the significance of the development, Dr. Arundeep Kaur Lamba, Director-Principal, MAIDS, noted that the establishment of this facility reflects the institute’s continued focus on strengthening infrastructure and expanding access to cutting-edge diagnostic services for patients.

Adding to this, Dr. Sunita Gupta. HOD, Oral Medicine and Radiology says that the facility will play a crucial role not only in improving clinical decision-making and patient outcomes through precise imaging and integrated workflows, but also in supporting postgraduate training and advancing translational research. She reiterated the institute’s commitment to delivering excellence in oral healthcare for the people of Delhi and the nation through innovative approaches.

With this initiative, MAIDS further reinforces its position as a leader in dental education and healthcare, continuing its efforts in promoting health awareness, ensuring effective disease management, and strengthening timely referral systems within the public healthcare framework.
