Hansraj College at Delhi University turned into a hub of energy and enthusiasm on Tuesday as it launched the “Green Campus, Clean Campus” initiative—an effort to make the campus not just cleaner, but also more environment-friendly.

The event took place in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Principal of Hansraj College, Prof. Rama, University Proctor Prof. Manoj Kumar Singh, University NCC Coordinator Major (Prof.) Sanjay Kumar, and University NSS Programme Officer Narendra Kumar Bishnoi. The college’s own NCC Coordinator, Prof. Arvind Yadav, along with Dr. Jyoti Singh and NSS Coordinator Dr. Apoorva Gupta, also joined as special guests. Teachers, students, and staff members showed up in large numbers, reflecting the collective spirit behind the campaign.

So what exactly is this initiative about? At its heart, “Green Campus, Clean Campus” aims to create a pollution-free, sustainable, and eco-friendly environment. The focus will be on activities like planting more trees, improving waste management, saving water, and conserving energy. The idea is not just to run a one-time cleanliness drive but to turn it into a long-term movement that reshapes the way students and staff connect with the environment.

Speaking at the launch, Principal Prof. Rama highlighted the larger purpose behind the effort. “The purpose of education is not only to acquire knowledge but also to fulfil our responsibility towards the environment and society. ‘Green Campus, Clean Campus’ is a significant step in this direction,” she said.

To wrap up the day on an energetic note, students from the NCC and NSS joined hands for a rally across the campus. With slogans and banners, they spread the message of cleanliness and sustainability, inspiring their peers to join the cause.

For Delhi University, this marks the beginning of an ongoing journey. If carried forward with the same enthusiasm, the initiative could very well set Hansraj College—and the University of Delhi—on the path to becoming one of the greenest and cleanest campuses in the country.
