DNA Meets Diagnosis: Inside Fortis Gurugram’s Bold Shift from Treating Illness to Preventing It

In a healthcare landscape still largely driven by symptoms and late-stage interventions, Fortis Memorial Research Institute is attempting something far more ambitious—predicting disease before it strikes. On April 27, 2026, the Gurugram-based hospital unveiled its Genomic 360 Wellness Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative that aims to bring the power of genomic science directly into everyday clinical care.

This isn’t just another genetic testing service. It’s a full-scale rethink of how healthcare decisions are made.

At the heart of the program lies a simple but transformative idea: your DNA shouldn’t sit in a report—it should guide your treatment. Unlike standalone genetic offerings, Fortis’ new program is deeply embedded within its hospital ecosystem, where specialists across cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, nutrition, and preventive medicine collaborate under one roof. The goal? To turn complex genomic data into clear, actionable health strategies tailored to each individual.

What makes this approach stand out is its immediacy. Instead of handing patients a genetic report filled with probabilities, the program ensures that every insight is interpreted in real time—factoring in existing conditions, lifestyle habits, and organ-specific risks. The result is a personalized care pathway designed not just to inform, but to intervene early and effectively.

For Dr Shrinidhi Nathany, Consultant in Molecular Haematology and Oncology, this marks a turning point. She describes the initiative as a step into “a new era of predictive and personalized healthcare,” where individuals are empowered with knowledge about their genetic risks and equipped to act on them before diseases take hold.

Her colleague, Dr Rahul Bhargava, Principal Director of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant, puts it more bluntly: India can no longer afford to wait for symptoms. With non-communicable diseases on the rise, he argues, the traditional one-size-fits-all model is becoming obsolete. Genomics, he says, offers a path toward smarter, earlier, and far more precise interventions—especially in a country as genetically diverse as India.

From the hospital’s leadership perspective, the launch signals more than just innovation—it’s a strategic shift. Yash Rawat, Senior Vice President and SBU Head, calls it a milestone in Fortis Gurugram’s journey toward integrating advanced science with compassionate care. The ambition is clear: to redefine healthcare delivery by making it predictive, preventive, and deeply personalized.

In a system often overwhelmed by late diagnoses and chronic disease burdens, the Genomic 360 Wellness Program is betting on a different future—one where healthcare doesn’t just react, but anticipates.

And if Fortis gets it right, the real breakthrough won’t just be in technology—it will be in time itself, catching disease before it ever has a chance to begin.
