Eli Lilly Invests $1 Billion to Strengthen Pharma Manufacturing in India
Eli Lilly & Company today announced plans to invest more than $1 billion in India over the next several years to expand contract manufacturing and increase patients' access to new medicines around the world. The strategic investment intends to improve Lilly's manufacturing and supply capabilities, thereby facilitating therapies for diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, cancer, obesity, and autoimmune disorders.
As part of this plan, Lilly will open a new manufacturing & quality hub in Hyderabad, providing sophisticated technical capabilities and oversight for its contract manufacturing network throughout India. Contract manufacturing entails working with local companies to make pharmaceuticals, allowing Lilly to increase production more efficiently.
Engineers, chemists, analytical scientists, quality control and assurance professionals, and managerial positions will be available for hire immediately at the Hyderabad hub. Since 2020, Lilly has invested more than $55 billion globally to create and expand facilities, prepare for new medications, and improve patient access.
