Under the #SwasthNariSashaktParivar Abhiyaan and the ongoing Poshan Maah celebrations, the hospital rolled out two special initiatives that touched hearts and inspired healthier living.

Children visiting the hospital’s OPDs, wards, and Child Development Centre (CDC) were greeted not just with smiles but with thoughtful gifts — makhana, fresh fruits, and stationery kits. The gesture, led by Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Bansal, Director of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, was more than just a festive treat. It was a gentle reminder to families that good nutrition and education are the cornerstones of a healthier future. To make the initiative even more meaningful, it was tied to the hospital’s “No Plastic” campaign, nudging both staff and visitors towards eco-friendly celebrations.

But the day wasn’t only about children. The Department of Surgery turned the spotlight on women’s health by hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp. The response was heartening — nearly 50 women came forward for screening, while over 100 more were counseled about the importance of early detection. Doctors emphasized that timely check-ups can be life-saving, making awareness as vital as treatment itself.

The event was graced by Dr. R.P. Arora, AMS & Nodal Officer, and Dr. Raj Kumar Chejera, HOD Surgery, who joined hands to highlight the hospital’s holistic approach to care. From nutrition and wellness to preventive screenings and sustainability, the initiatives reflected a message loud and clear: health is about more than just curing illnesses — it’s about nurturing communities.
