Finding Your Voice Again: Fortis Launches SWARA Clinic on World Voice Day
In a significant move towards specialized healthcare, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road has launched the SWARA Clinic (Swallow, Airway & Advanced Voice Care Center) on the occasion of World Voice Day. The initiative reflects the hospital’s growing focus on patient-centric care for conditions that often go unnoticed but deeply affect everyday life.
The clinic was inaugurated by noted vocalist and playback singer Archana Udupa, adding a symbolic touch to an initiative centered around voice and communication. The launch event was attended by leading doctors and senior leadership, marking the beginning of what the hospital describes as a comprehensive, one-stop solution for voice, airway, and swallowing disorders.
SWARA Clinic is designed to cater to patients across all age groups, offering advanced outpatient diagnostics such as laryngoscopy with Narrow Band Imaging (NBI), stroboscopy, bronchoscopy, and functional endoscopic evaluation of swallowing. These technologies aim to make early diagnosis easier and treatment more effective, without the need for prolonged hospital stays.
At its core, the clinic focuses on conditions related to voice, breathing, and swallowing. Patients experiencing persistent hoarseness, changes in voice quality, reduced vocal strength, or difficulty speaking can now access specialized care. The clinic also addresses complex airway disorders, including breathing difficulties, complications following ventilation, and tracheostomy-related issues, some of which may require surgical intervention. In addition, it provides dedicated care for swallowing disorders affecting both children and adults, including patients recovering from strokes.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Susheen Dutt, Additional Director, ENT, emphasized that such conditions are more common than widely perceived. He noted that many individuals delay seeking treatment due to lack of awareness, even though these issues can significantly impact daily life. With SWARA Clinic, the goal is to make specialized care more accessible by combining clinical expertise with advanced technology, enabling timely diagnosis and effective treatment.
Dr. Manjunath MK, Senior Laryngologist, highlighted the complexity of airway and swallowing disorders, explaining that many cases require a structured, step-by-step approach along with continuous follow-up. He pointed out that the clinic has been designed to bring all aspects of care under one roof, ensuring better coordination among specialists and improved outcomes for patients.
Gautham CB, Facility Director, described the clinic as a step toward bridging critical gaps in treatment. Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, SWARA Clinic offers a patient-friendly outpatient environment where individuals can receive everything from basic evaluation to advanced medical and surgical care. He added that the clinic stands out for integrating services for both pediatric and adult patients, making long-term management smoother and more efficient.
With its holistic approach and advanced capabilities, SWARA Clinic aims to raise awareness about voice, airway, and swallowing health—areas that are often overlooked but essential to overall well-being. In doing so, it not only introduces a new facility but also brings attention to the importance of seeking timely care for conditions that can quietly disrupt everyday life.
