From Legacy to Leadership: AIIMS Marks Ambedkar Jayanti with Purpose and Pride
The spirit of equality and social justice took center stage at AIIMS Delhi as the SC/ST Employees Welfare Association hosted a vibrant celebration to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Held at the JLN Auditorium, the event ran from 11 AM to 2 PM and drew an energetic crowd of faculty members, staff, students, and invited guests. The atmosphere was both respectful and inspiring, reflecting the lasting impact of Ambedkar’s vision on modern India.
The celebration was led by the AIIMS Director, who attended as the Chief Guest, alongside key dignitaries including Dr. Mahesh R, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr. V. Darlong, Liaison Officer for Scheduled Tribes; and Dr. Pranay Tanwar, Presiding Officer. Representatives from various unions and associations within and beyond the institute also joined the occasion, adding to its significance.
One of the highlights of the programme was an engaging guest lecture by Dr. Batti Lal Bairwa, Professor at the University of Delhi. His talk offered deep insights into Ambedkar’s ideas and their relevance in today’s society, leaving the audience with much to reflect on.
The event was more than just a tribute—it was a reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality, inclusion, and dignity for all.
