From Treatment to Prevention: Yashoda Medicity Opens Future-Ready Thalassemia Care Centre in Delhi NCR

New centre brings lifelong care, genetic screening, and advanced treatment under one roof

In a major healthcare breakthrough for patients suffering from thalassemia, Yashoda Medicity has launched a dedicated Thalassemia Care Centre in Delhi NCR, aiming to change the way inherited blood disorders are treated and prevented in India.

The centre was inaugurated by Sunil Kumar Sharma and marks an important step towards specialised and patient-focused healthcare in the region.

Thalassemia is one of India’s most common inherited blood disorders, where patients often depend on regular blood transfusions and constant medical care throughout their lives.

For many families, the journey is emotionally, physically, and financially exhausting due to delayed diagnosis, scattered treatment systems, and lack of proper counselling support.

With this new initiative, Yashoda Medicity plans to make that journey easier by offering complete and coordinated care under one roof. The centre combines specialised haematology treatment, daycare transfusion services, iron chelation therapy, advanced diagnostics, bone marrow transplant evaluation, nutritional guidance, psychological counselling, infection prevention, and long-term patient monitoring in a seamless care model.

What makes the centre stand out is its strong focus on the future of healthcare through genetic prevention and early awareness.

The hospital is actively promoting carrier screening, pre-marital counselling, antenatal testing, and genetic counselling so families can make informed decisions before planning a child. Experts believe that early screening and awareness can significantly reduce the future burden of thalassemia and other inherited diseases in India.

Along with the launch, the hospital also organised a Thalassemia Masterclass and a blood donation drive to spread awareness about the importance of regular voluntary blood donation.

For thalassemia patients, blood transfusion is not a choice but a lifelong necessity, making blood donors a critical part of their survival journey.

P. N. Arora, Chairman and Managing Director of Yashoda Group of Hospitals, said the new centre reflects the hospital’s commitment towards compassionate and integrated care.

He shared that thalassemia patients need much more than treatment, as they require emotional strength, continuous support, and timely medical guidance throughout life.

He also stressed the importance of prenatal screening, genetic counselling, and early diagnosis in helping families make better healthcare decisions.

Speaking about the medical advancements in thalassemia care, Nivedita Dhingra said that improvements in transfusion protocols, iron management, infection control, and bone marrow transplant outcomes are helping patients live healthier and longer lives today.

She added that the centre has been designed to provide smooth, coordinated, and outcome-driven care without patients having to move between multiple facilities.

With the launch of this specialised centre, Yashoda Medicity is taking a strong step towards building a future-ready healthcare ecosystem where treatment, prevention, genetic awareness, and lifelong patient care work together to improve lives and create a healthier next generation.
