From Vedic Healing to Digital Intelligence: IGMPI’s Artificial Intelligence in Ayurveda Course Goes Live
For centuries, Ayurveda has thrived on personalized healing—an approach deeply rooted in understanding an individual’s prakriti and dosha. The ancient healing system of Ayurveda, with its emphasis on individualized treatment grounded in the understanding of one’s constitution (prakriti) and the balance of doshas, is now undergoing a technological transformation. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence—via machine learning, image recognition, predictive analytics and big-data mining.Practitioners and researchers are seeking to digitize, standardize and upscale Ayurvedic diagnostics, treatment-personalisation and herbal formulation research.
““Ayurveda has traditionally emphasized personalized treatment based on an individual’s dosha and prakriti,” explains Dr. Anukriti, Assistant Professor at IGMPI. “Leveraging AI enables us to analyze extensive Ayurvedic datasets, thereby enhancing diagnostic accuracy and optimizing treatment strategies.
India’s leadership in AI and traditional medicine earns global attention. In July 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) released its landmark brief, “Mapping the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Traditional Medicine,” prominently featuring India’s pioneering contributions.
The WHO document highlights India as the first country to establish a Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) and notes that the Ayush sector, is a driver of both innovation and economic growth. It cites AI-led projects like Ayurgenomics—integrating Ayurveda with genomics—and Prakriti-based machine learning models for predictive diagnostics.
At the heart of these initiatives lies India’s Ayush Grid, a digital platform supporting portals such as SAHI, NAMASTE, and the Ayush Research Portal. These platforms digitize centuries-old knowledge, ensuring its preservation and global accessibility.AI offers a valuable toolset to validate classical Ayurvedic concepts, enhancing scientific rigor in both herbal and clinical research. By analyzing patterns in prakriti, disease progression, and therapeutic outcomes, AI fosters a more evidence-based and globally relevant Ayurveda.
In a remarkable fusion of ancient wisdom and modern technology, the Centre for Health Management and Research (IGMPI) has launched a pioneering training program titled “Artificial Intelligence in Ayurveda. The course represents a forward-looking step in transforming how traditional medicine aligns with global digital health innovation.
The program’s curriculum spans AI methodologies, predictive analytics, and machine learning algorithms, with practical applications across Ayurvedic diagnostics, herbal research, and personalized medicine. Participants gain hands-on experience through case studies, interactive online sessions, and assignments simulating real-world clinical and research challenges.Thehands-on program equips students and professionals to leverage AI for predictive modeling in patient care, identification of bioactive compounds, and research workflow optimization.
From WHO recognition of India’s Ayush innovations to IGMPI’s academic leadership, the integration of AI and Ayurveda signifies a new era in healthcare—one where heritage meets high technology, and holistic healing becomes more precise, personalized, and globally relevant.
