Ghaziabad: Thousands Run for Heart Health on World Heart Day
The streets of Delhi-NCR came alive with energy and determination as over 4,000 runners gathered at dawn for the Half Marathon 3.0, an event dedicated to spreading awareness about heart health on the occasion of World Heart Day.
The marathon, organised by Yashoda Medicity, was flagged off at 5:30 a.m. by Dr. P.N. Arora, Chairman and Managing Director, Yashoda Medicity; Dr. Upasana Arora, Managing Director; Shri Arun Singh, Member of Parliament and Rashtriya Mahamantri, BJP; and Shri Ravindra Kumar Mandar, IAS, District Magistrate of Ghaziabad. Their presence underscored the importance of preventive healthcare and the growing need to encourage communities to take proactive steps toward fitness.
Now in its third edition, the Yashoda Half Marathon was held under the campaign theme “Run For Your Heart.” The event featured four race categories—21.1 km, 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km—attracting participants of all ages, from children to senior citizens. Adding a heartwarming dimension, 100+ children from Special Olympics Bharat also joined the run, making the celebration of fitness even more inclusive.
The route began and ended at Yashoda Medicity, weaving through the city’s Elevated Road. To ensure safety and comfort, hydration stations were set up at regular intervals, supported by on-ground medical teams, while free health check-ups were organised at the venue—reinforcing the hospital’s mission of holistic healthcare.
Cash prizes were awarded across categories, with ₹11,000 going to the male and female champions of the half marathon. Prizes ranged from ₹2,100 to ₹7,100 for runners-up in the 10 km and 5 km categories, motivating participants while adding to the competitive spirit.
Applauding the event, Arun Singh said, “The Yashoda Half Marathon united the community in celebrating fitness and heart health, emphasizing the role of regular physical activity in leading a healthy lifestyle.”
Sharing similar sentiments, Ravindra Kumar Mandar remarked, “The energy and enthusiasm displayed by participants today reflect the spirit of the community. Such initiatives are vital in raising awareness about heart health.”
For the organisers, the marathon was about more than just crossing a finish line. Dr. P.N. Arora emphasized, “The Yashoda Half Marathon is not just a run; it is an initiative to inspire people to take charge of their heart health. We are delighted to see such strong participation across all age groups.”
Echoing his views, Dr. Upasana Arora added, “It was wonderful to see families, children, and seniors come together to celebrate fitness. Events like this reinforce our aim of promoting preventive healthcare and community engagement.”
Building on its ongoing commitment, Yashoda Medicity continues to promote heart health, fitness, and community well-being through such initiatives, driving home the message that prevention is the best way forward.
