The Pedodontics Unit of the Dentistry Department at UCMS & GTB Hospital turned Children’s Day into a lively celebration packed with colour, laughter, and learning. The hospital corridors came alive as kids took part in painting competitions and cheerful games, their faces lit up with excitement.

But it wasn’t just about fun. The dental team used the occasion to teach children why taking care of their teeth matters. Doctors demonstrated proper brushing techniques using tooth models, making it easy and enjoyable for kids to understand. They also shared simple, practical tips to help children make brushing a natural part of their daily routine rather than a chore.

A special talk on oral health highlighted why milk teeth are so important and how early dental care can prevent cavities. The team also addressed an often-overlooked issue—dental trauma in children. Parents were guided on what to do if their child ever injures a tooth or experiences an accident involving the mouth, and were reminded that immediate dental attention can make all the difference.

The session also encouraged families to rethink their eating habits. Dentists explained how frequent consumption of junk food and sugary snacks harms children’s teeth, and offered easy-to-follow advice on building healthier food habits at home.
