Healthium’s ₹150-Crore Expansion in Sri City Signals India’s Next Big Leap in Medtech Manufacturing
Healthium Medtech, one of India's fastest-growing medical technology businesses, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to significantly boost the country's manufacturing capabilities. The company would invest ₹150 crore to establish Healthium Medtech Unit 2 on five acres in Sri City Industrial ParNCGS affects approximately ten per cent of the global population.ufacturing sutures and surgical meshes in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). An SEZ is a defined economic zone that provides tax and infrastructure incentives to encourage export-oriented manufacturing. With Unit 2, the company hopes to strengthen its position in what has grown as a competitive hub for high-quality medical device production.
The new facility will greatly increase Healthium's capabilities in the surgical, post-surgical, and chronic care segments. These include surgical supplies, recovery items, and equipment for long-term problems. The unit will also enable advanced wound care (technologies that speed up wound healing) and arthroscopy, a minimally invasive treatment in which doctors use a tiny camera to examine a joint.
The project, which is planned in two phases, is estimated to create 300 direct jobs by 2027, as well as 100 indirect possibilities in supply chains, logistics, and ancillary services. This comes at a time when India's medtech sector is expected to exceed $30 billion by 2030, emphasising the importance of strong industrial facilities and trained labour.
Anish Bafna, CEO and Managing Director of Healthium Medtech, stated that the decision to establish a new unit in Sri City was driven by the need for resilient, high-quality manufacturing in the medtech space. This expansion is consistent with Healthium's objective of providing accessible, high-quality, 'Made in India' medical products to patients worldwide." He noted that Sri City's connectivity, industrial readiness, and skilled labour pool provide a solid base for expanding manufacturing.
Sudeep Dhariwal, Group CFO of Healthium Medtech, underlined the strategic importance of the investment, stating, "This expansion reflects our disciplined approach to long-term capital allocation and commitment to building scale where it creates the most value." Strengthening our footprint in Sri City enables us to optimise cost structures, improve operational efficiency, and plan capacity in line with future market demands."
According to CM Saikanth Varma, IAS, CEO of APEDB, the initiative strengthens Sri City's reputation for innovative medical device production. It helps to establish a stronger industrial environment by promoting supplier chains and ancillary units that are critical for long-term competitiveness."
Dr Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder and Managing Director of Sri City, celebrated the announcement, saying it "is a resounding affirmation of the existing ecosystem where diverse manufacturing sectors converge, scale, and compete globally."
As India strives to minimise its reliance on imported medical equipment and establish globally competitive manufacturing clusters, Healthium's expansion stands out as a timely and strategic boost to the country's medtech goals.
